Beginning Therapy Is Often the Hardest First Step

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming. Finding someone you trust, sharing difficult experiences, and allowing yourself to be vulnerable takes courage. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative relationship grounded in respect, compassion, and trust.

I believe therapy is about more than understanding the past. It is also about recognizing your strengths, building resilience, developing healthier ways of coping, and creating meaningful change in your personal and professional relationships. While our past experiences help shape who we are, they do not have to define our future.

My Experience and Approach

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), licensed in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. I work with adults navigating a wide range of emotional and life challenges, including anxiety, mood disorders, learning and behavioral challenges, life transitions, parenting concerns, and longstanding patterns rooted in family-of-origin experiences.

My primary specialty is helping adults heal from traumatic experiences, both past and present.

Trauma can take many forms. It may stem from a single overwhelming event, repeated painful experiences, complicated family relationships, emotional neglect, abuse, or significant loss. Sometimes the impact of these experiences is immediately recognizable; other times, it emerges years later through difficulties with relationships, emotional regulation, self-worth, or a persistent sense of feeling stuck.

Throughout my career, I have pursued extensive advanced training in trauma treatment, including studying with leading researchers and recognized experts in the field. This specialized training informs my work and allows me to integrate different therapeutic approaches based on each client’s individual needs.

As a Certified Complex Trauma Professional, my areas of specialization include:

  • Complex Trauma: Helping adults address the lasting effects of repeated or prolonged traumatic experiences, including childhood and attachment-related trauma.

  • Adult Children of Narcissistic or Personality-Disordered Parents: Exploring the impact of difficult family dynamics, emotional neglect, unhealthy relationship patterns, and the challenges of establishing healthy boundaries.

  • Trauma Reprocessing: Providing EMDR therapy and intensive trauma reprocessing sessions (longer sessions) to help clients work through distressing experiences and reduce their ongoing emotional impact.

My approach integrates trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and body-oriented therapies, recognizing that meaningful healing involves both the mind and body.

I believe that although we cannot change what has happened to us, we can change our relationship and our understanding of those experiences. This allows us to create new possibilities for the future.

Clinical Consultation

In addition to my work with individual clients, I provide case consultation to fellow mental health professionals seeking guidance and support in trauma-informed care, complex trauma treatment, and clinical approaches to challenging cases.
